I love to cut my grass. I have a commercial 36″ walk behind. Instead of “mowing” I “lay down some stripes.” Perhaps a change in definition is what you need to start enjoying mowing. I am not one of those guys like you talked about. I just like mowing, getting my balls sweaty, and being outside.
p.s. I also like rough toilet paper.
